A review of Waiting For The Rain To Fall by Under Electric Light published in the latest
Big Takeover magazine from New-York:
The merger of electroncia and guitars is hardly an innovation in 2011. Downright ubiquitous in fact, but Montreal’s Under Electric Light (actually the one-man province of Danny Provencher) has struck a sublime balance between what at one time was deemed as an ill-advised combination. There’s nothing in the least ill-advised pertaining to Waiting for the Rain to Fall, wherein warm swells of post-modern synth lines cascade like gleaming, digital waterfalls over a bedrock of buzzing chords, a la Jesus and Mary Chain at their most subtle. Provencher is undoubtedly a well-groomed Anglophile, and this album’s copious dream pop flirtations make for an über-delectable layer of icing atop an already scrumptious cake.
